Produced for the University of Texas - Texas Medical Center Historical Resources Project. Summary: Dr. Byrd, current President of the American Cancer Society, discussed his educational training at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee where he was born and raised. He spoke of his own studies in cancer and those of the American Cancer Society and the American College of Surgeons Cancer Commission. Emphasis was lent to environmental and nutritional factors in breast cancer.
