Mrs. Ella Fondren. Interview by Don Macon. Mrs. Ella Fondren, born in 1880, talks about her early childhood in Kentucky, her move to Corsicana, Texas and later meeting and corresponding with Mr. Fondren for two years while he was working in the oil fields. She recalls Spindletop, the formation of the Humble Oil and Refining Co. and the establishment of the Fondren Foundation. She recounts her role in the establishment and growth of Methodist Hospital; she tells of her travels with Mrs. Josie Roberts, who was administrator of the hospital.
