Dr. James "Red" Duke, Jr. was a renowned American trauma surgeon and a well-known figure in the field of emergency medicine. Dr. Duke gained national recognition for his work as an advocate for injury prevention and for his role in pioneering the concept of bringing emergency room care to the site of an accident, known as the Life Flight program. He played a significant role in establishing the Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas, and also served as head of the Division of Trauma Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
