Subseries II: Illustrations; 1949 - 1969

Scope and Content Note: This series contains original artwork used inside The Cancer Bulletin journal issues to illustrate stories and articles. The title of the article is used as the title of the illustration if it is located on the title page of the article, if not then a literal description of the illustration is used as its title. The name of the artist for each illustration is included in the descriptions if known.

Series IV: Medical Record and Annals;

Scope and Content Note: This series contains the original artwork used for Medical Records and Annals front covers, and some photographs used to illustrate articles within the journal issues. Medical Record and Annals was published by The Medical Arts Publishing Foundation from 1964 to 1968, although it had been in existence since 1907. Cover artwork from the journal, called the Texana Collection, had been diplayed in several exhibits around Houston, Texas, including Town Hall of Foley's Department Store downtown in 1970 during the 10th International Cancer Congress, and at the Houston Academy of Medicine - Texas Medical Center Library in 1977. The The cover artworks are generally paintings and depict historic medical figures or events based in the state of Texas. Artwork that was painted on canvas has been placed in separate boxes.
