The Paul V. Ledbetter, MD papers contains biographical information, correspondence, administrative records, newspaper clippings, manuals, publications, audio cassettes, notes, notebooks, loose monographs, glass slides, patient data, membership directories, and rosters related to Dr. Ledbetter's life, career, practice (Ledbetter Clinic Association) and professional organizations, such as American Heart Association, Houston Heart Association, Houston Society of Internal Medicine, and Texas Academy of Internal Medicine. Three audio cassettes provided an oral history of Dr. Ledbetter. Materials are in good condition. The collection consists of 3 boxes, totaling 1 cubic foot.

The South Central Chapter of the Medical Library Association records (SCC/MLA) contain organizational history, photographs, bylaws, reports, policies, annual meeting records, executive board records, meeting minutes, committee documents, local arrangements materials, membership directories, procedure manuals, newsletters, oral histories, and digital media. The collection documents the activities, people, membership, leaders, and committee work of the SCC/MLA, a professional organization of medical librarians and libraries. Materials also include records related to the Hospital Library Interest Section, Texas Council of Health Libraries, and South Central Academic Medical Libraries (SCAMeL) Consortium. The collection consists of 39 boxes and equals 20 cubic feet with more materials added annually. Materials are in good condition.

The Griff T. Ross, MD, oral history scrapbook was compiled by Stanley Joel Reiser, MD, MPA, PhD. Dr. Reiser is the Adjunct Professor, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, School of Public Health, Austin Regional Campus; and the University of Texas Austin Plan II Honors Program. Dr. Reiser donated the scrapbook in March 2014. The scrapbook contains a bibliography of Dr. Ross’s works and an oral history interview of Dr. Ross. The scrapbook also includes interviews with Bill Ross, Griff Ross’s brother; Dr. Carlson (given name unknown); Dr. Alton Steiner, and Dr. Ernest Knobil. The scrapbook was actually a binder filled with loose sheets of 8.5 inch by 11 inch paper. The binder has been removed and discarded. The collection consists of 0.25 cubic feet (1 box).

The Griff Ross, MD papers contains two bound volumes of the 1984 oral interview transcript with Dr. Ross. The first volume contains Dr. Ross's interview; the second contains interviews with four of his colleagues. In the interview, Dr. Ross discusses both his personal and professional life.The collection consists on one box equaling 0.25 cubic feet. Materials are in good condition.

MS 079 the Mylie E. Durham Jr., MD papers consists primarily of an oral interview conducted circa 1985 in the form of a printed transcript and six (6) cassette tapes. Dr. Durham Jr. was a native Houstonian. He was a member of the Harris Country Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. The collection consists of 0.25 cubic feet (1 box).

The Raymond Gregory, MD, PhD papers contains 7 cassette tapes of a 1985 interview with Dr. Gregory, as well as a transcript of the tapes. Content includes discussion of his childhood and professional life.

The William Kellar interview collection consists of interview transcripts related to his research on the History of the Texas Medical Center. Interviews were conducted by Louis Marchiafava, PhD, N. Don Macon, and William Kellar. They were a product of various projects in the Texas Medical Center: Hermann Eye Center Historical Project, Texas Medical Center Oral History Project, Oral History of MD Anderson Foundation, Elliott Manuscript Project. The collection consists of 2 boxes equaling 1 cubic foot. Materials are in good condition.

Collection contains a digital copy of a 1992 video recording of author/activist Jan de Hartog (1914 April 22 – 2002 September 22) speaking about the Jefferson Davis Hospital scandal of the 1960’s. De Hartog was a longtime resident of Houston and member of Live Oak Friends Meeting, and personal friend of the donors. The original video was recorded by Warren, Ph.D., and Marsha Holleman, M.D., also members of Live Oak and faculty at Baylor College of Medicine.

Thie Kiyoko Minato papers includes a letter, newspaper article photocopy, meeting minutes. Kiyoko Minato gave this collection of papers to Merry Uemoto to send to Dr. William Schull. Included are meeting minutes at the fourth ABCC/RERF History Forum in Nagasaki library, which was an interview of Ms. Kiyoko Minato and Ms. Hisae Tanaka about their time working as nurses for the ABCC, as well as a newspaper article about Philip Montgomery from the Chugoku newspaper. Ms. Uemoto discusses the two previously mentioned documents and discusses the cancellation of a meeting between Dr. Schull and Ms. Minato due to her health in a letter included in the collection. The newspaper article and meeting minutes are dated April 4th and 9th 2015 respectively, and the letter is dated November 8th, 2015. The collection contains one folder in the Small Manuscript Collection (SMS) box.

Dr. Teresa Hayes uses her background as a physician to comment on the state of radiation and treatment in the U.S versus countries such as Kazakhstan. Dr. Hayes recalls her time in Kazakhstan and discusses the reality of radiation treatment and diagnostics when she visited.

Randy Wright elaborates on his position as a health administrator and how his role assisted him in helping the local community when visiting Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Wright elaborates on the challenges of working in settings with limited resources as well as the social, medical, political and cultural impact of radiation on the communities he visited.

Sara Rozin discusses her journey immigrating to Israel and then to the U.S. from the former Soviet Union. She comments on living in the Soviet Union and the effect that the Chernobyl disaster had on the social and political climate of the former Soviet Union. Rozin also recalls her subsequent visits to Russia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine and discusses the lasting effects of radiation on the communities there.

Dr. Boris Yoffe recalls memories of his journey leaving the former Soviet Union for a better life in the U.S. He comments on the social, political, and cultural situation of the former Soviet Union and discusses the effect of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster on the people residing nearby at the time.

Dr. Thomas Wheeler discusses his research on thyroid cancer and associated levels of radioactive iodine in the context of his trips to Kazakhstan and Ukraine. He also elaborates on the uses of radiation in the U.S. healthcare system today.

Dr. Neal Palafox discusses the nuclear testing that occurred at the Marshall Islands and the social, cultural, and psychological effect it had on those native to the region. Dr. Palafox encourages the public to adopt a holistic view of radiation disasters when evaluating the effects of radiation on the communities, such as the ones within the Marshall Islands.

Dr. Robert Emery discusses radiation safety and regulations when working with radiation equipment as well as some of the misinformation surrounding radiation disasters such as Fukushima.

Dr. Ridha Arem uses his background as a thyroid specialist to discuss the incidence of thryoid cancer in the populations he visited and encountered. He discusses his trip as well as the effects of low-dose radiation, generally, on health.

Tom Abrahams offers a unique perspective on the role of media in covering events such as the Chernobyl disaster. He draws on his personal experiences visiting Chernobyl and discusses the use of media in preserving the historical nature of events.

Dr. Tomoko Steen discusses the differences between the perception of radiation in the Japan and the U.S. as well as the social and health effects of the Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011.
