The Reginald Burbank, MD papers (MS218) is 2.5 cubic feet and consists of 5 documents boxes. Dr. Burbank’s papers include institutional publications, medical research, translations, books, pamphlets, correspondence, letters, newspaper clippings, typed manuscripts, typed manuscripts (drafts), and medical journals that document his research and career. Dr. Burbank had a vast collection of historical manuscripts and books related to the study and history of gout, rheumatism, and arthritis. He studied as well as helped to translate these texts to support his own research findings and to assist future researchers. Items relating to these endeavors are within the collection. The materials are in relatively good condition.

Edward Trowbridge Wolf, MD papers
The Edward Trowbridge Wolf, MD, papers (MS003) is 3 cubic feet and consists of 7 document boxes with some materials also located in the communal oversize box. It contains biographical information, personal and professional correspondence, certificates, official documents, news clippings, telegrams, drawings, and books that detail the personal life, professional activities, medical related records and papers associated with the World War II experiences of Dr. Edward Trowbridge Wolf in the Pacific Theater, various stateside military posts and also the Houston Texas Medical Center. Wolf was the executor of estate for Mr. Isiah Leebove and as a result the legal and financial documents related to the Leebove estate are included here. The materials are in good condition; however there is some evidence of water damage probably caused by the flooding of the archives during tropical storm Allison in 2001. As a result, ink applied by pens often has been washed away or is illegible. Ink applied by typewriters is clearly legible in the documents. After the flood, the archivists took steps to preserve and restore the collection. The material is unrestricted with a few exceptions (for Patients Diagnosis) that are clearly marked in the detailed description and on the box and folders. The collection is 3 cubic feet (7 boxes) and in good condition.

The materials are in good condition. Ink applied by typewriters is clearly legible in the documents. The records pertain to the geographic areas of Houston, Texas. The material is unrestricted.

The William B. Bates papers contains correspondence and photographs documenting his life and career as a lawyer. Of particular interest are the scrapbook of newspaper clippings dating back to the 1920s and photographs from World War I and Bates' childhood. The collection consists of 14 boxes, including two oversize boxes, and equals 9 cubic feet. The materials are in fair to good condition.

Memorial Hospital Photograph Collection
The Memorial Hospital Photograph Collection contains 4039 photographic prints and negatives from 1903 to 1976 that chronicle the long history of the Memorial Hospital System (originally Baptist Sanitarium and Hospital). The photographs depict the staff, physicians, personnel, departments, nursing school students, faculty and Lillie Jolly (director), facilities and building construction of the Memorial Hospital System. The earliest dated photograph is the only nitrate negative (P-3387). It depicts Louisville Male High School graduating class of 1903, which includes Roger Jolly. It is in good condition. There is a separate series of about 31 photographs donated by Lela Smith Hickey that depict the nurses, nursing students, physicians, and facilities of Memorial Hospital in 1932, including the operating room supervisor “Birdie” Byrd. The entire collection equals 3.5 cubic feet and includes 7 boxes. Materials are in good condition.
