Series III: Historical materials,

This series contains materials related to the history and origins of the Texas Medical Center. Series V: Photographs,

This series contains photographic materials that document the development of the Texas Medical Center and the growth of its member institutions. A significant portion of the series covers the 2006 photo contest and images of outdoor art installations.

This series contains audiovisual materials that depict the Texas Medical Center throughout its history. Some productions are promotional videos highlighting TMC institutions and facilities. Materials include reel-to-reel audio, audio cassettes, video, and film.

Curriculum resources include teacher guides, study materials, and course catalogs and schedules.

The collection also directories from UT Dental Branch as well as Texas Dental Journal and Houston District Dental Society. There is information on student graduation dating back to 1906. There is ephemera from various school events such as ground breaking, centennial celebration, and various guest speakers. There are publications in this collection including handbooks, student guides, brochures, video tape catalogs and research manuals. There are articles, library history, memorandums and information about the law that govern dentistry.

It includes handbooks for topics in teaching, handbooks for predental advising, student guides for the school and programs of study offered by the school, library resource guides and Brochures. It also includes The Special Patient, Post graduate manuals and video tape catalogs. The materials are in excellent condition. 2.5 Cubic feet (5 boxes).

Series VI: Oversized Items.

There are a number of photographs and newspaper clippings in the scrapbooks, whose pages have been dis-bound and placed in individual folders. Finally, the collection includes plaques, paperweights, and two VHS tapes.

The materials in the collection range in date from approximately 1960 to 1992. The materials from 1960 to 1971 relate to the Houston Speech and Hearing Center, while the materials from 1971 to 1992 reflect its time as part of the University of Texas as the Speech and Hearing Institute.

Patient Records

This series contains 53 boxes of patient medical records. Each patient is assigned a number, and the files are arranged according to these numbers. Note: some boxes are numbered 7A, 7B, 7C, etc., which is why the highest box number is 34, even though there are 53 boxes in the series.

Printed Materials

This series contains printed materials ranging in date from 1957 to 2009. Included are annual reports, telephone directories, employee handbooks, budget information, and an eligibility procedure manual. There are also newsletters such as The Beat and Progress, as well as other printed material relating to the Harris County Hospital District.

Originally from Los Angeles (Born: 1925), Robert Portus was a metal fabricator and artist producing metal sculptures in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1960s and 1970s. Most notably, the collection highlights the organization’s public health programs to prevent and control tuberculosis as well as its Christmas Seal fundraising campaigns.

The materials are arranged in three series: Organization Records (1911-1993), Photographs (1895-1969), and Scrapbooks (1924-1974). The collection equals 13 cubic feet (12 document and oversize boxes).The materials are in fair condition. Some items were damaged or lost during the flood caused by Tropical Storm Allison in 2001.

Series I: Organization Records,

This series is comprised of correspondence, legal documents, budgets, tuberculosis statistics, committee reports and minutes, printed materials, newsletters, medical articles, and Christmas Seals that document the history, community services, and administrative functions of the San Jacinto Lung Association. Also included are items such as a pamphlet for a pinning ceremony at Prarie View A&M School of Nursing and the Texas A&M telephone directory.

Series II: Photographs

This series consists of photographic materials that document the history, staff, facilities, events, community services and Christmas Seal campaigns of the San Jacinto Lung Association in Houston. The photographs document the history of public health and anti-tuberculosis programs of the 20th Century in the United States.
