This moulage is Japanese in origin based on the use of hiragana, katakana and kanji characters in the text. The 3-dimensional representation of a human torso depicts various parasites and the foods with which the parasites are associated, including green leafy vegetables, fish and other types of seafood. The moulage was framed with a glass front. However the glass was chemically interacting with the printed text surrounding the moulage. The moulage was removed from the frame, placed in a clear polypropylene sleeve and boxed. The moulage contains its original backing.

The Japanese wood block prints collection consists of Japanese woodblock prints that were acquired by the McGovern Historical Center over time. How the prints came to archive is uncertain. However, it the opinion of the archive staff that the prints were part of other Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission collections acquired by ABCC staff during their work in Japan. The prints lack provenance, but because of their cultural value the prints are being preserved. The collection contains one folder in the Small Manuscript Collection (SMS) oversize box.

There are three prints. “Plum Blossoms and Long Tailed Bird” by Utagawa HIROSHIGE (1797-1858), printed in 1830 in Edo period in the uyiko-e style and measuring 6 15/16 inches wide by 15 1/16 inches tall. HIROSHIGE is considered to be the last great artist in that style. This print is a polychrome woodblock print, in and color on paper.

The other two prints are in the Shin-hanga style, which is a style associated with prints produced around 1910 to 1920. They are from the famous Night Scenes series, characterized by the use of blue and black ink to create the night scences. The prints are known as “Lake Biwa,” depicting a small boat on Lake Biwa and “Ohashi Bridge at Atako,” depicting travelers crossing the bridge at night. The artist for both prints is Shoda KOHO (1878-1946). The prints measure 7.5 inches wide by 10.25 inches tall. They are referred to by collectors as (chuban-sized prints).

Jarrett H. Folley, MD, served as the Director of the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC) during 1950 and 1951. The Jarrett H. Folley, MD, papers collection is comprised of official interim and quarterly reports issued by the ABCC, a reprint written by Folley, Dr. Wayne Borges and Dr. Takuso Yamawaki "Incidence of Leukemia in Survivirs of the Atomic Bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki", and a typescript discription of the programs of clincial investigation by the ABCC. In the archival manuscript collections donated by other former ABCC members are reports and articles written or coauthored by Dr. Folley. Also, in the photograph collection are numerous black and white photographs of Dr. Folley posing with nurses and fellow physicians. The collection consists of 0.5 cubic feet (1 box).

The collection is divided into three series: Reports; Reprints; and Presentations. The Reports series is comprised of official interim and quarterly reports issued by the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission. The Reprints series includes an article written by Dr. Folley, Dr. Wayne Borges and Dr. Takuso Yamawaki for the American Journal of Medicine "Incidence of Leukemia in Survivirs of the Atomic Bomb in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan." The documents in the Presentation series consist of "The Involvment of Dartmouth Personnel in the Hiroshima and Nagasaki Follow-up Studies" accompanied by Dr. Folley's handwritten note, and a typescript description by Dr. Folley of "the program of clinical investigation carried on by the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission." The materials are in good condition.

Folley graduated from Harvard Medical School. His medical training included Mary Hitchock Memorial Hospital, New Haven Hospital, and University of Pennsylvania. Folley's major interest was in the field of internal medicine. He served as the President of the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic, Hanover, New Hampshire from 1964 to 1974. Folley was the Medical Director of the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC) from 1950 to 1951, during his leave of absence from the Hichcock Clinic, Hanover, New Hampshire. In 1948 the ABCC initiated the first survey of the incidence of leukemia in populations exposed to high energy radiation by the explosion of an atomic bomb. Folley published his report on the incidence of leukemia in the survivors of the bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the American Journal of Medicine in 1952. He died in 1991.

The Joe R. Gandy, MD papers contain correspondance, programs, manuscripts, research, news releases, news clippings, and recording transcripts from his research into railroad medicine and his career as a surgeon

The collection consists of two boxes. The bulk of the material in the collection is related to the U.S.-U.S.S.R. collaborative study on the effectiveness of d-Penicillamine in treating juvenile arthritis. Box I contains correspondence among Dr. Baum and other doctors, dating from 1974 through 1984 and organized chronologically by year. Box II contains other materials related to the d-Penicillamine study, including accounting reports, sample patient evaluation forms, travel information and itineraries, drafts of the project proposal, and progress reports.

The John Earl Cutler, MD papers contains 5 ledgers and some loose business-related papers, including two ledger books in which Dr. Cutler recorded patient fees and fees he paid to suppliers. The ledgers cover the years 1918 to 1922. Dr. Cutler recorded the names of his patients and the companies that paid for his services. He also recorded the drugs dispensed and the cost. He rarely mentions symptoms, which he treats. There are some loose receipts for repairs to Dr. Cutler's Franklin automobile and purchases from drug wholesalers. This collection is relatively good shape although the binding of each ledger has been partially destroyed by insects and aging. The paper is in good condition with some foxing and insect damage. The collection consists of about 1 cubic feet (1 document box and 1 oversize box). Two of the ledgers measure 9 inches by 14 inches by 1.5 inches.

The papers of John L. Decker, MD primarily document his work at the National Institute of Health (NIH) as well as his involvment in professional organizations. His travel to and participation in conferences, lectures, and professional committees make up a significant portion of the papers.

The collection includes experiments, experiment data, experimental findings, rheumatoid studies, genetic studies, patient profiles, and X-rays. Patient materials such as X-rays are restricted. There are also texts of lectures given by Decker, typed manuscripts and letters, correspondence with colleagues in the fields of rheumatology, and materials relating to developed treatments. Also included are Decker’s published works and findings, institutional publications, and reprints.

The papers mostly correspond to Decker's stint at the NIH, 1965-1990. However some date as far back as 1931 and as late as 1992.

This is personal collection of medical medallions acquired by John P. McGovern, MD. There are 188 medals, three of which are numbered and stored as pairs.

The collection consists of 6 large boxes, totaling 6.0 cubic feet, of medical medallions dating from the late 1700s to the 20th century. Many of the medals were produced as commemorative items in the 1960s and 1970s. The bulk of the medals come from the Great Men of Medicine Art Medals series. The collection contains two complete sets of the 50 medals, in both the silver and bronze versions. These were sculpted by Abram Belskie and distributed by Presidential Art Medals, Inc. of Vandalia, Ohio, from 1969 to 1974. In addition to the medals themselves, these commemorative series also include pamphlets describing the medals and the accomplishments of the figures portrayed.

A second group of modern medals includes examples from the Hall of Fame for Great Americans at New York University, presented by the Medallic Art Company and also sculpted by Belskie. In addition, there are several examples of the medals issued for the Medical Library Association's Seventy-fifth Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota in June of 1976.

The remaining 70 or so items are historical medallions ranging in dates from at least 1773 to 1971, though many of them are undated. Many of them recognize physicians, hospitals, organizations, events, or developments in medicine. Many are in English, while others appear to be in Latin, French, or other languages. Many of these arrived in the archives in envelopes with accompanying notes with information such as their size, composition, and sculptor. These notes have been added to the descriptions of individual medallions when available.

Many of the medals--particularly modern ones--arrived at the archives in their original boxes. These have been retained and are stored along with the medals, separated by tissue paper for preservation reasons.

The John P. McGovern, MD Collection of Texas Historical Medical Documents includes historical deeds, medical records, bills, and receipts from the pre-Republic era to the beginning of the 20th century. 117 Texas medical personnel, primarily physicians, were the creators of these 146 digitized documents. The documents are listed alphabetically by the last name of the primary medical person associated with the item. The city and county shown for each individual are the Texas area where they lived the longest, were most active in their profession, or where the document originated. References are provided for as many personnel as possible. Each document is given a genre and a subject heading. A list of documents classed under each heading can be accessed through the lists below. Other Personnel contains names referred to in the documents. If there are no other names in a document, none is shown; if the name is incomplete or illegible, a dash is shown.

The papers of John P. McGovern document his medical career, the creation of the McGovern Allergy Clinic, his editorial and writing leadership, and his founding assistance and support for the American Osler Society. Dr. McGovern was energetic in leading many medical associations, promoting humanism in medicine.

This collection consists of assorted papers both personal and professional. The papers were removed from a large collection of books donated by Jim Warren and designated as the John R. Byers [book] collection. The papers include personal correspondence, numerous advertisements for medical tools and drugs, prescriptions, Lake Forest University's Rush Medical College materials, and a few Masonic-related papers. The materials are from primarily from the Midwest in the United States. The content's date range are from 1891 to 1951.

Dr. Armstrong is mainly associated with his involvement with Houston Herman Hospital, The Houston Academy of Medicine, the Texas Medical Center, the Texas Medical Center Library, and has been published in the Southern Medical Journal, Journal of the Southern Medical Association. John T. Armstrong served on various committees at the Houston Academy of Medicine, where he served such appointments as president. Dr. Armstrong was heavily involved in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. His records include: his professional correspondence; his medical publications; family papers; professional diaries and ledgers; and his affiliated medical organizations’ publications.

This collection includes photographs, manuscripts, and reprints related to Dr. John Bowers' involvement with the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC). Of particular note are 58 black-and-white photographs of Nagasaki, Japan, taken by Captain Shields Warren (MC) in 1947. There is also a photograph showing Dr. Bowers alongside Carl Tessmer reviewing plans for the ABCC laboratory-clinic in Hiroshima, and another featuring the groundbreaking of the Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF). A third set of photographs depicts Berlin, Germany during the Cold War.

In addition to photographs, this collection includes two manuscripts by Dr. Bowers--one on the history of the ABCC and one on RERF. Finally, there are three reprints of articles by Dr. Bowers and his colleagues.

The Joseph I. Maurer Photograph Collection consists of 1411 items that total over 2300 negatives depicting members of the Harris County Medical Society and their medical specialties. These negatives were originally prepared for the Pictorial Roster and Handbook of Harris County Medical Society.

This collection consists of six boxes. Three are of technical reports from the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC) dating from 1959 through 1975 and a few RERF reports from the 1980s and early 1990s. Box VI is an oversized box containing two large photographs and two large certificates. The reports have been organized in chronological order and all materials have been interleaved with archival bond. The rest of the material consists primarily of professional correspondence between Dr. Belsky and various other doctors regarding ABCC research or, occasionally, individual patients. There are some drafts of ABCC technical reports and a few articles copied from other publications. Correspondences, etc., are arranged in general chronological order in Boxes IV and V.

Joseph Melnick, PhD papers contains correspondence and reprints that document the career of Dr. Melnick, who was a leading epidemiologist, best known for his research on polio.

The Joseph Merrill, MD papers consists of meeting minutes, real estate negotiations, surveys, biographical information, and interview transcripts that document the career of Dr. Merrill in internal medicine and pediatrics. Collection totals 1 box and equals cubic foot. Materials are in good condition.

The Joyce E. Yost, PhD papers consist of 7 boxes and contains newspaper clippings, correspondence, printed material, speeches, magazines, newsletters, manuals, books, studies, reports, reprints, prophylactic material, financial documents, and meeting minutes and materials that document Yost’s doctoral dissertation research. Materials are mostly in good condition with some water damage. Collection includes information related to the Montrose Clinic and AIDS Foundation Houston (AFH), and other AIDS organizations, activist groups and programs

The Judson L. Taylor, MD papers consists of one oversize photograph portrait, two full sheet newspapers, and other newspapers clippings related to Judson Taylor and his brother, Dr. Martin Junius Taylor. The collection is in good condition, and all materials are stored in one oversize box.

This collection consists of one VHS video titled "Texas Children's Hospital Ground Breaking Ceremonies July 20, 1989. Video is housed in an orange plastic video case. The video appears to be of professional quality. The VHS tape and case both appear to be in good condition.

Kanellos D. Charalampous, MD papers contains reel-to-reel audiotapes of lectures for a course in social and community psychiatry with presentations by Titus Harris, Jack Ewalt, John Spiegal, Harry Brickman, Samuel Braun, Betty Caldwell, Eli Bower, David Sanders, Phyllis Rolfe Silverman, and other pioneers in psychiatry. There is also a reel of participant discussions. The collection consists of 17 boxes equaling 8.5 cubic feet of labelled tapes.

These audiotapes record lectures given in Houston, Texas as part of the course in Social and Community Psychiatry that was headed by Gerald Kaplan of Harvard University in association with Baylor College of Medicine, Moody Bettis as local contact. The audiotapes comprise 3 1/2 years worth of lectures, given around the United States at different gathering points. Harvard University acquired a grant to support these lectures, which took place between 1968 and 1972. Each lecture series comprised two weeks of instruction. many of the lectures were pioneers in psychiatry. Titus Harris and Jack Ewalt are among the notable speakers. Some lectures, for instance Charles Jones, CEO of Exxon, spoke on executive and management issues.

The Kenneth L. Burdon, MD papers (MS 008) is .5 cubic feet and consists of 1 document box. It contains biographical information, personal and professional correspondence, official documents, news clippings, and photographs that detail the personal life, professional activities, medical related records and papers associated with the experiences of Dr. Burdon his work for Baylor College of Medicine, especially with regard to the Department of Microbiology. The materials are in good condition. Ink applied by typewriters is clearly legible in the documents. The records pertain to the geographic areas of Houston, Texas. The material is unrestricted.

Thie Kiyoko Minato papers includes a letter, newspaper article photocopy, meeting minutes. Kiyoko Minato gave this collection of papers to Merry Uemoto to send to Dr. William Schull. Included are meeting minutes at the fourth ABCC/RERF History Forum in Nagasaki library, which was an interview of Ms. Kiyoko Minato and Ms. Hisae Tanaka about their time working as nurses for the ABCC, as well as a newspaper article about Philip Montgomery from the Chugoku newspaper. Ms. Uemoto discusses the two previously mentioned documents and discusses the cancellation of a meeting between Dr. Schull and Ms. Minato due to her health in a letter included in the collection. The newspaper article and meeting minutes are dated April 4th and 9th 2015 respectively, and the letter is dated November 8th, 2015. The collection contains one folder in the Small Manuscript Collection (SMS) box.

The L. Rodney Rodgers, MD papers consists of announcements, correspondence, articles, handbooks, ethics papers, Harris County Medical society meeting records, reprints and other printed material related to L. Rodney Rodgers career in internal medicine.

The Laura C. Bickel, MD papers contain article reprints, correspondance, case studies, photographs, and xrays related to her research into the Rubella virus and congenital defects and her career in pediatrics.

The Lee D. Cady photograph collection (MS 217) is 1.75 cubic feet in size consisting of two boxes with one oversized box. The Lee D. Cady V.A. Photograph Collection documents the career of Lee D. Cady, MD as the first Manager (Director) of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Houston, Texas. The photos document physical changes in the V.A. facilites, medical staff and personnel at the hospital, and notable visitors during Dr. Cady's tenure.The photographs were generally taken during Dr, Cady's tenure as director of the V.A. Hospital in Houston and include pictures of the V.A. Hospital and surrounding medical center, doctors, staff, and visitors to the hospital and awards and celebrations. The collection is in good condition.

The collection deals primarily with Dr. Cady's tenure in the Veterans Administration from 1946-1963. Most of the materials concern his role as Director of the Veterans Hospital in Houston, Texas. Some of the earlier materials relate to his work with the VA in Dallas.

In addition to various administrative records, the VA Hospital materials in this collection include significant groups of Public Relations Files, Reading Files, and Telephone Conversation Transcriptions. There are also some sound recordings relating to the VA Hospital.

The collection also includes some of Dr. Cady's personal and professional materials such as correspondence, scholarly works and reprints, and materials from his retirement.

While the bulk of the records correspond to his work from 1946-1963, some of the personal materials and scholarly works date as early as 1921, and some of the artifacts and retirement-era materials come from as late as 1985.

The Leon Dmochowski, MD, PhD papers contain article reprints, reports and an undated manuscript related to his career in oncology and virology. The collection contains 2 boxes equaling 1 cubic foot, the materials are mostly in good condition. One item has water damage.

The Leta Denham, RN papers contains a short handwritten family history, scrapbook segments, photographs, a school yearbook from 1918, newspaper clippings, a nursing cap, and other items related to Leta Elizabeth Denham's nursing education at Baptist Sanitarium and Hospital Training School for Nurses from 1918 to 1919. The scrapbook segments and photographs show Leta Denham and other nursing students and school faculty, including class portraits. There is one photograph of the reception room at the nurse's home. There are three images relating to the 1918 flu pandemic, showing the nursing students holding “Quarantined” banners with the year 1918, and a photograph of a faculty member wearing a “Quarantined” sash across her chest. On the back of this photo “Miss Becker play-acting” is written giving the impression that the students are pretending to be quarantined but are not actually ill. Included with the photographs is an image of Mrs. J.P. Burnett (Lillie Jolly), Superintendent (undated). In addition to a nursing cap there is a pin from Baptist Sanitarium and Hospital Training School for Nurses that is in the shape of a cross and has “L. Denham” inscribed on the back. Oversized items include Leta Denham's Registered Nurse certificate from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners dated June 28, 1919, and her diploma from Baptist Sanitarium and Hospital Training School for Nurse's dated May 29, 1919. The collection equals one cubic foot and includes two boxes and one oversized folder. The materials are primarily in good condition. Rolled panoramic photographs need conservation consultation to flatten.

Collection contains a digital copy of a 1992 video recording of author/activist Jan de Hartog (1914 April 22 – 2002 September 22) speaking about the Jefferson Davis Hospital scandal of the 1960’s. De Hartog was a longtime resident of Houston and member of Live Oak Friends Meeting, and personal friend of the donors. The original video was recorded by Warren, Ph.D., and Marsha Holleman, M.D., also members of Live Oak and faculty at Baylor College of Medicine.

The collection also contains the program to the University of Texas Medical Branch graduation ceremony, 1921; and an invitation to the wedding of Dr. Hodde and Helene Caranagnostis, 1921. Collection materials generally originated in Japan or discuss conditions there.

The Lu Ann Aday, PhD papers contains materials related Lu Ann Aday’s professional career in public health. The papers include her publications, courses she designed and taught, administrative material and consulting work. Many of the records are from her work at the University of Texas School of Public Health-Houston. The material ranges from 1985 to 2007. The material is in good condition. The collection is 23 cubic feet 23 boxes).

The Lucile Baird papers contains 13 photographs and 4 letters related to the Baptist Memorial Hospital (later Memorial Hospital). The photographs depict hospital staff, interns, nurses, and students. Robert Jolly and Lillian Wilson Burnett Jolly appear in a few photographs, and they are the correspondents with Lucile Baird. Letters include Christmas greeting cards and Baptist Hospital stationary. Photographs and letters appear to have annotations by the creator as well as her niece, Carol Wilde.

The Luke William Able, MD, (1912 – 2006) collection includes a few photographs and news clippings, the letter from the State Department re: Dr. Able’s receipt of the Silver Star for his service in World War II, and several plaques and desktop awards. The items date from approximately 1945 to 1996.

According to the document, this collections consists of reproductions of engravings which first appeared as "illustrations to Maladies Mentales,an early 19th century work on mental patients and their care...." Jean Étienne Esquirol published this work after observing mental patients at the hospital in Charenton, France. Wyeth Laboratories in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, produced the prints in 1963. The collection is contained in the Small Manuscript Collection (SMS) within one folder measures about 0.05 cubic feet.

The Mac Suzuki Photograph Collection, MS 196, contains 838 color slides of 35 mm film taken by Mac Suzuki, MD. Most of the images were taken in Japan between 1948 and 1952 while Dr. Suzuki’s worked with the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission. This material was donated by the children of Dr. Suzuki. The images are good condition although there is some evidence of vinegar syndrome. Most of the slides are Kodachrome with rich color and very sharp images depicting rural, tourist and work related scenes. A few slides are an off-brand of film, which account for the vinegar syndrome.

The slides are Kodachrome with rich color and very sharp images depicting rural, tourist and work related scenes. The slides were stored in a metal, baked enamel, slide storage container. One unusual characteristic of the storage system is how Dr. Suzuki identified the slides. He used different colors of ink to write on the edges of the cardboard film holder. Using this method, he indicated the subjects of slides, such as Rice, Nikko, etc. Rice depicts rice farming in Japan in the 1950s. Nikko depicts the resort area in the 1950s. Now, the slides are in inert plastic sleeves in folders organized by slide number. This collection is 0.5 cubic feet (1 box).

The papers of Mara M. Baun are concerned mainly with the creation of a doctoral program for the University of Texas School of Nursing in Houston. Other topics include Baun’s administration and teaching and research papers. The collection consists of 4 boxes and equals 4 cubic feet. The materials are in good condition.

The Marianne Marcus, EdD, RN papers contain newsletters, publications, research project designs, and other materials related to her work at the University of Texas School of Nursing. Mostly dating from 1998-2008, her papers reflect Dr. Marcus’ interest in substance abuse research and helping prepare nurses to address addiction issues. Much of the collection material relates to her project “Stress reduction in therapeutic community treatment.”

This collection consists of three encased ambrotypes. The primary subject is most likely Marion Matkin who served as an assistant surgeon in 15th Arkansas Infantry according to his gravestone located in Oakwood Cemetery, Tarrant County. One of the images depicting Dr. Matkin is in excellent condition. One image of Matkin and a second man has broken glass and obvious degradation. The third image of a woman, who may be Matkin's wife Louisa Olivia Garrett, is dark and appears over exposed. Images appear to be dated circa 1850 to 1865. Collection equals 0.25 cubic feet, consisting of 1 box..

This collection consists of the papers of Martha Pugh, MD, who practiced Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine. The materials are generally in good condition. The collection includes correspondence, official papers from Baylor College of Medicine and other institutions and other materials, including an EMG machine. The Marvin A. Kastenbaum, PhD, papers, MS 93, 1950-1997, contains materials related to the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC), including audio-visual materials, photographs, artifacts, personal cards, clippings, and statistical analyses compilied by the ABCC. Kastenbaum worked for 17 months as a statistician with the ABCC.

Kastenbaum's first contribution to the archive in March 1994 was a set of photographs of ABCC employees. Later, he made additional donations of artifacts, audio-visual materials and more photographs.

Kastenbaum was born in New York City on January 16, 1926. During World War II, he served with the the 124th Cavalry Regiment and later in the 613th Field Artillery Battalion. Kastenbaum was stationed in Burma, and the units he was stationed with participated in the reopening the Burma Road, a vital supply route from Burma to China.

After the war, Kastenbaum returned to his studies and graduated from the City College of New York with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics in 1948. He received his Master's degree in statistics from North Carolina State College in 1950 and his PhD from the same institution in 1956.

In January 1953, during a hiatus from his studies, Kastenbaum took a post as statistician in the Biostatistics Department of the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission in Hiroshima, Japan. While with ABCC he had occasion to review much of the medical data which had been collected by the commission between 1947 and 1954. He and Dr. William C. Moloney wrote a study of A-bomb radiation on humans. Upon completion of the final report, Marvin A. Kastenbaum decided he would make a career of medical statistics. In September of 1954 he returned to Chapel Hill to complete the requirements for his doctorate in statistics at the University of North Carolina. While there Marvin A. Kastenbaum worked as a statistician for the University's Department of Public Health.

During his 17-month affiliation with the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission, Kastenbaum recorded some of his experiences on film. He donated three reels of 8 mm film to the archive in 1995. This film is a unique visual history. He filmed ABCC events in Japan, highlights from festivals, and scenes of daily life. Approximately one-third of the footage is devoted to ABCC personnel, activities and sites. The latter part of the film includes scenes of Hong Kong, Bangkok, India, Pakistan, Israel and Greece that Dr. Kastenbaum filmed after leaving Tokyo, Japan in May 1954. The collection is 1.75 cubic feet (3 boxes).

Dr. Kastenbaum's photographs have been rehoused and cataloged as single items and in sets. The bibliographic records and holdings are in machine readable format and can be found in the online catalog of the Houston Academy of Medicine-Texas Medical Center Library. The finding aids for the photographs are as follows: traditional card files and computerized bibliographic records in the online catalogs. All the photographs are black and white in a variety of sizes.

Some of the material in this collection appears to have been water damaged. This is especially apparent in box 2. Extra care should be taken when handling these materials. Notify an archivist if any of the material appears to be disintegrating.

The Matilda Benyesh-Melnick, MD papers contain research journals, reprints, magazines, reports, symposia and an undated manuscript related to her career in virology. Materials focus on the research that she conducted and collected between 1956 and 1974.

The Maurice J. Meynier, MD papers contains information about Dr. Meynier childhood, education and participation in World War II. Material includes correspondence, reprints, some handwritten manuscripts, certificates and diplomas, newspaper and magazine articles, brochures, glass slides, photographs and photographic slides. Copies of his patents The primary bulk of the collection deals with his professional career as a physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology; his membership and positions in several medical organizations; his publications; and his work in public health, healthcare facilities in Houston, Texas and opposition to abortion.

MS 050 Mavis P. Kelsey, MD papers consists of correspondence, reports, office files, government contracts, legal agreements, accounting records and a large set of medical reprints.

Aspects of his education, career and personal life are also documented. A unique highlight of the collection is his materials on military medicine. Dr. Kelsey saved numerous clippings, reports, and photographs from World War II and his assignment in Alaska. The collection also contains the tuxedo given that Dr. Ernst W. Bertner gave to Dr. Kelsey in 1949.

Dr. Mavis P. Kelsey made contributions to medicine and his community. His dedication and efforts to establish a clinic providing comprehensive health care are clearly reflected in his collection. The documents trace the momentous growth of the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. The collection, for the most part, consists of correspondence, reports, office files, government contracts, legal agreements, accounting records and a large set of medical reprints.

The Methodist Hospital Diagnostic Clinic implosion video is a digital recording of the 15-story Diagnostic Clinic on June 25, 2006. The building was located at 6448 Fannin St. between Main St. and Fannin St. at the intersection of M.D. Anderson and Fannin in the Texas Medical Center. The building was imploded to make way for a new 1.6 million square foot outpatient center for The Methodist Hospital. This digital video runs 38 second with audio. The video has a running title of TMH Implosion 06.25.06. The format is Windows Media Audio/Video file (wmv). The size of the file is 2.50 MB. The frame width is 640 pixels and the frame height is 480 pixels. The frame rate is 30 frames per second. The audio has a bit rate of 166 kbps with 2 stereo channels and an audio sample rate of 44 kHz. This copy of the video was created in July 2006. The creator of the original file is unknown. There are three digital copies on DVD and CD. The collection is held in a folder in the Small Manuscript Collection (SMS).

Michael K. O’Heeron, MD papers contain materials such as photographs, journals, articles, conference, office and personal notes that he produced during his tenure at Baylor College of Medicine and St. Joseph’s Hospital. Correspondences with the State Medical Association of Texas, the University of Nuevo Leon, International College of Surgeons in particular Dr. Julio Pow Sang, and the IV Peruvian Conference on Urology are included. The collection is 0.75 cubic feet (2 boxes). The materials are in good condition.

The Moise D. Levy, MD papers is limited to selected papers that were donated by Dr. Levy's daughter Justine (Levy) Bennett to the Houston Academy of Medicine - Texas Medical Center Library in 1982, including a selection of letters, original copies of two articles, one on the treatment of Bubonic Plague in Galveston, TX circa 1920, one on the use of Tartar Emetic as a cure for Malaria circa 1917, and a plaque from 1957 that commemorates Dr. Levy's time as president of the Harris County Medical Society.

The Murdina MacFarquhar Desmond, MD papers contains photographs of Dr. Desmond as a medical student, Naval officer, and a faculty member of Baylor College of Medicine. The main portion of her papers deal with her work at Jefferson Davis Hospital, including grants she received from the John A. Hartford Foundation, and at Texas Children's Hospital.

Some background material and photographs of the illustrations she used in the book, Newborn Medicine and Society: European Background and American Practice (1750-1975), are included. Reprints of her journal articles are also available. She donated many books on the newborn and on pediatrics. These books have been cataloged and are available through the HAM-TMC Library's online catalog.

The Murray M. Copeland papers contains reprints, illustrations, interview by Don Macon transcription, Roswell Park Memorial Institute memorial display, biographical information, publications, and Johns Hopkins background. MS 079 the Mylie E. Durham Jr., MD papers consists primarily of an oral interview conducted circa 1985 in the form of a printed transcript and six (6) cassette tapes. Dr. Durham Jr. was a native Houstonian. He was a member of the Harris Country Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. The collection consists of 0.25 cubic feet (1 box).

The Nancy Bergstrom, RN PhD papers contains awards, AHCPR guidelines, Academy Nominations, small grants, videos, early papers, references, NIH and ARSA applications, job offers following PhD, selected honors and awards, licensure documents form original state (MD) to current (1960-2015), Travel committees (2003-2015)—profession service, Joanna Briggs Institute, American Academy of Nursing—various presentations, reviews, NIH grant proposals, and data tapes & protocol books (1985-1995). Materials document the career of Dr. Bergstrom in nursing, her leadership at the UT School of Nursing and the Center on Aging, Dr. Bergstrom was the Associate Dean for Research at the University of Texas School of Nursing and the Director of the Center on Aging from 2000-2015. The collection consists of 14 boxes and equals 12.5 cubic feet.

Norman E. Mann medical realia collection is considered an artificial collection. Records indicate that Dr. and Mrs. Norman E. Mann donated the Mann medical regalia collection to the John P. McGovern Historical Collections and Research Center in April of 2001. This collection contains a wide range of objects including: medical instruments, medicine bottles, medical equipment, human remains, dental ads and ephemera, and printed material. The collection was heavily damaged by Tropical Storm Allison and the recovered objects vary in condition. Additional material has been added and continues to be added to the collection to supplement the objects lost due to Tropical Storm Allison.

The collection contains two hyfrecator machines from the 1940’s-1950. These machines are in relatively good condition and have all of the needed parts. A large doctor’s bag and its contents are also included within the collection. The bag and its contents are in fair condition. The bag contained many medicine bottles and packaging. This packaging is of notable ephemeral interest. The collection contains many medical instruments in varying conditions. As the objects are mostly metal and have undergone a flood, rust is present on many of the objects. Some objects are also incomplete. A few medical instruments cannot be identified due to a lack of completion. Several pacemakers are included within the collection and are in good condition. There are also four leather medical boxes containing medicine vials. The medicine vials are empty for the most part and in good condition. The leather boxes are fragile and exhibit leather rot. Glassware and antique glasses are also included. The glass objects are in good condition but should be handled with care. Enamel ware is also included within the collection consisting of funnels, bedpans, and instrument trays. Several microscopes can be found within the collection. Most of the microscopes are antique and oversized. There are many other oversized objects within the collection including a hospital toilet, a stereoscope, and an examination chair. Additionally, human remains in the form of gallstones and a radius bone are found within the collection. Overall the collection contains a large range of materials.

Physical Description: Collection consists of 14 document boxes and artifacts inventoried in the Garments, Artifacts and Framed section (GAF). The entire collection is comprised of artifacts and medical realia.

One linear foot of vertical files containing articles, SCAME 1981 NIH Conference notes, and documents about the history of early software for nursing education. The Otto Lowenstein papers contains correspondence and articles that were found in the "Collections & Reprints" by Otto Lowenstein, which is in the McGovern Rare Book collection. This collection consists of one folder with handwritten correspondence and notes, photos of electrical equipment, graph paper with tables about pineal body functions. The materials are in German and English and date from 1932 to 1933. The collections equals 0.25 cubic feet (1 box).

This collection contains scrapbook and nursing cap of Ovelin Frances Fish Henderson (aka Billie). The items were received with the following note by K. Lynn Wieck (niece): "This is the scrapbook of my Aunt, Ovelin Frances Fish Henderson from 1929-1930 when she was in nursing school in Denver, CO. She was a psychiatric nurse for over 60 years. She died in Oregon at age 92. She was my Aunt Billie (everyone called her "Billie") She was my inspiration for becoming a nurse."

Collection contains one VHS tape about nursing exchange program. Confirm subject.

The Patricia Starck, DSN, RN, FAAN papers covers the career of Dean Patricia Starck as the head of the UTHealth Science Center Houston’s School of Nursing (SON). The papers include administrative records, SON history, annual reports, strategic plans, nursing profession organizations, publications and awards. The collection roughly encompasses the years of Starck’s tenure as dean from 1984 to 2015.

The Paul Lensky, MD Photograph Collection contains 27 black and white photographs, each about 3.25" x 4.5" in size. The snapshots depict Dr. Lensky's friends and colleagues at Jefferson Davis Hospital on Buffalo Drive in Houston, Texas. While most photographs appear to be set in Houston, at least one was taken in Monterrey, Mexico. The photographs are dated 1947-1948, corresponding with Dr. Lensky's time at Jefferson Davis.

Scenes include roof top views, sunbathing, cars, the Nurses' Home, the hospital entrance, a neighborhood and home, and travel. Some of the roof top views show the surrounding area, including the San Felipe Courts housing development, the Fourth Ward, Buffalo Drive and Buffalo Bayou, and downtown Houston. Descriptions--including names and dates--provided by the creator are on the back on each photograph.

The Paul R. Harrington, MD papers consists of publications documenting his work at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR). There are copies of his journal articles, as well as copies of TIRR's publication, The Promethean. There are also some materials relating to meetings of professional groups interested in scoliosis.

The Paul V. Ledbetter, MD papers contains biographical information, correspondence, administrative records, newspaper clippings, manuals, publications, audio cassettes, notes, notebooks, loose monographs, glass slides, patient data, membership directories, and rosters related to Dr. Ledbetter's life, career, practice (Ledbetter Clinic Association) and professional organizations, such as American Heart Association, Houston Heart Association, Houston Society of Internal Medicine, and Texas Academy of Internal Medicine. Three audio cassettes provided an oral history of Dr. Ledbetter. Materials are in good condition. The collection consists of 3 boxes, totaling 1 cubic foot.

The Philip S. Hench, MD, papers (MS 076) is 100 cubic feet of papers, correspondence, reprints, research documents, newspaper articles, photographs, glass slides, sheet music, and audiovisual materials. The collection contains Dr. Hench's personal and professional documents from his childhood, 1896, to his death, 1965. These papers provide information about his family and life, including his service in World War II, his contributions to medical research in rheumatic diseases, his Nobel Award and other awards. Dr. Hench, a co-developer of cortisone as a anti-inflammatory treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, was a joint winner of the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1950.

Most of the material is in English; however, some correspondence, reprints, and news articles are in Spanish, French, Italian, Norwegian or German. Much of the documentation connected to the Nobel Prize is in Norwegian. The collection consists 192 boxes, 2 oversize boxes, 2 boxes of phonographic discs, a 16mm film, and a large-format poster stored in the map cases. The materials are in good condition. Many of the phonographic discs have been digitized.

This collection consists of materials relating to Phillip D. Robinson's professional relationships and travels in Ukraine and Russia. The collection contains agreements, proposals, correspondence, reports, agendas, contact lists, and photographs. There are materials pertaining to the International Consortium for Research on the Health Effect of Radiation (ICRHER); the Ukrainian Research Center for Radiation Medicine; the International Consortium for Research of Radiation Induced Injury; the Methodist Hospital (Houston, Tex.); Institute of Experimental Radiology (Kiev, Ukraine); and the Ukrainian Research Center for Radiation Medicine. The materials date from 1993-1994, with most centering around the trip in July 1993.

Lee Clark’s personal papers, Series I, contain financial documents, family correspondence from relatives throughout Texas, lists of purchases including various cars, information on houses and repairs, ideas for his ranch and considerations about other land purchases.

Lee Clark received his M.D. from the Medical School of Virginia. He served as Chief Resident at the American Hospital in Paris, France and was a Fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Before coming to M.D. Anderson, Dr. Clark was Director of Surgical Research within the United States Air Force at Randolph Field, San Antonio, Texas. Drafts of Clark’s Surgical History of the Army Air Forces are located in Series II.

Dr. R. Lee Clark collected papers from many sources, envisioning the historical importance, not only of his personal papers, but of items related to University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the Texas Medical Center, various University of Texas medical schools, and many national and international cancer organizations. A series of historical papers, in addition to folders labeled “Inactive”, “to 1956”, or “to 1959”, provide witness to the early growth of M.D. Anderson Hospital and Houston’s medical community. Dr. Clark also kept the minutes of many meetings of the University of Texas Board of Regents, as he was dependent on funding from the state to furnish resources necessary for M.D. Anderson Hospital. Newspaper clippings document Clark’s leadership at M.D. Anderson and the growth of cancer treatment and care, both within the state of Texas and throughout the world. He was Directing Medical Editor of the Medical Arts Publishing Foundation that published The Heart Bulletin, The Cancer Bulletin, The Psychiatric Bulletin, and Medical Record and Annals, as well as co-editor of The Book of Health and The Year Book of Cancer.

Dr. Clark held positions of authority in a number of national and international organizations. Correspondence and meeting minutes show that he was a dynamic force in the formation of several branches of the Union International Contre le Cancer, notably the Committee for International Collaborative Activities and the Association of American Cancer Institutes. UICC was a world-wide effort to more successfully track and treat the causes of cancer. The American Cancer Society also benefited from Clark’s vision and energy, as did the Cancer Committee of the American College of Surgeons. Meeting minutes from several committees document activities within those organizations. He served on the boards of directors of the Damon Runyon/Walter Winchell and Hogg Foundations. After retirement from M.D. Anderson, he served as a consultant for Robert Douglass Associates, assisting with site visits and forward planning for cancer hospitals.

Photographs of M.D. Anderson Hospital buildings, colleagues, and many organizational meetings are held in Series XIII, as well as in other parts of the collection.

Memorabilia and realia, as well as a series on professional travel, attest to the scope of Dr. Clark’s career.

The Rabbi Samuel Karff papers contains papers and binders related to Rabbi Karff's work in the Sacred Vocation program at the UT Medical School McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics. More details about the materials will be documented after initial processing and rehousing. The collection includes newspaper and magazine clippings, reprints, handwritten notes, lecture and talk manuscripts, correspondence; interviews, questionnaires, curricula, and reprints.

The Randall Wright papers on Kazakhstan health care are related to a Baylor College of Medicine and United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) conducted health care initiatives among populations in Kazakhstan and other regions the former Soviet Union. The initial assessment was related to the affects of above ground nuclear testing of weapons on regional populations. Randall Wright is a former administrator with Methodist Hospital and UMCOR. These papers are from materials he preserved from his work in the area in the 1990s. The collection includes photos, PowerPoint slides printed on paper, regional maps, correspondence, and memos. The collection is in good condition and measures about one cubic foot (one box).

The Raymond C. Anderson, MD, PhD papers comprises photocopies of Anderson's journal and the photographs he took during his time at the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission. It is believed that Anderson's family still retains the original copies of the diary and photographs.

This collection is in fair condition, but it does appear that the photocopied pages of the diary were somewhat water damaged while they were housed in the basement of the main Texas Medical Center Library. This is collection MS 95. It is one box (0.5 cubic feet).

The bulk of the Raymond D. Pruitt Papers consists of original manuscripts and/or copies of his professional and personal writings. A bibliography compiled from his curriculum vitae, documents in the papers and a PubMed search is provided. The major portion of his published and non-published documents cited in the bibliography are in this collection. Also included are photographs used in some of the printed articles and correspondence about some of his writings.

Personal material includes original correspondence and photographic negatives from his year at Oxford University. Copies of some of Dr. Pruitt's medical records are in the collection. A reflex hammer and stethoscope labeled with his name. Some personal remembrances of his youth, college and university life are included in letters and printed material.

Studio photographic portraits of various sizes are included in the collection. Diplomas, awards and commendations are also included. There are several folders which contain information about his tenure as an officer and as President of the American Osler Society.

There is information about the establishment of the Mayo Medical School and its beginning years. Included in the letters is correspondence about his decision to leave Baylor College of Medicine to undertake that endeavor. Copies of many publications which covered the origin of the School are included.

The Raymond Gregory, MD, PhD papers contains 7 cassette tapes of a 1985 interview with Dr. Gregory, as well as a transcript of the tapes. Content includes discussion of his childhood and professional life.

The Reginald Burbank, MD papers (MS218) is 2.5 cubic feet and consists of 5 documents boxes. Dr. Burbank’s papers include institutional publications, medical research, translations, books, pamphlets, correspondence, letters, newspaper clippings, typed manuscripts, typed manuscripts (drafts), and medical journals that document his research and career. Dr. Burbank had a vast collection of historical manuscripts and books related to the study and history of gout, rheumatism, and arthritis. He studied as well as helped to translate these texts to support his own research findings and to assist future researchers. Items relating to these endeavors are within the collection. The materials are in relatively good condition.

This collection consists of the administrative records and other materials of Dr. Richard Wainerdi who was president of the Texas Medical Center, 1984-2012.

The Richard S. Ruiz, MD, papers, MS 150, includes materials from 1925 through 2007 related to the Hermann Eye Center and Memorial Hermann Hospital. Dr. Ruiz was the Chief of Ophthalmology at Hermann Hospital who built up and improved the teaching faculty at Hermann Hospital and the one with the vision for the Hermann Eye Center and made it possible. This collection encompasses this period of time in Dr. Ruiz's career. Dr. Miller donated his collection of journal articles, newspaper articles, business correspondence, photographs, architectural blueprints, and a scrapbook to the John P. McGovern Historical Collections and Research Center between March and May 2011. The materials are in good condition. The collection is 2 cubic feet (three boxes).

This collection contains two series: I. 1994 Construction of the Hermann Eye Center and II. History of Hermann Hospital.

The materials in this collection are in good physical condition with some minor tears and the pictures and other objects falling off the scrapbook pages. Dr. Ruiz donated his collection of journal articles, newspaper articles, business correspondence, photographs, architectural blueprints, and a scrapbook to the John P. The Robert D. Lange Collection contains publications and reprints from the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission, The Journal of the Hiroshima Medical Association, Blood, The Journal of Hematology, Texas Reports on Biology and Medicine. Unique to this collection are the 46 lantern slides. The contribution consists of lantern slides, publications and a set of 35 mm slides. The print and photographic materials in this small collection complement each other well. Most of the 46 lantern slides are of the original illustrations printed in the publications in his collection. The collection is in good condition with some fraying and normal depreciation.

The McCorkle Family collection includes framed artwork and awards; medical instruments including bronchial and esophageal specular, and laryngoscopes; and a leather doctor’s bag.

Harris County Psychiatry Center medical staff bylaws, clinical procedures manual, and other binders, prints, and papers related to the work and research of Dr. Robert Guynn. Collection consists of 15 boxes totaling 15 cubic feet of various books, papers, binders, and other material of Dr. Robert Guynn.

This collection contains materials related to Dr. Robert Emery's career on the faculty of the UT School of Public Health. There is a mix of materials specific to UT, along with external training materials, resources, and publications relevant to this work. The UT materials include reports related to areas of the School of Public Health, such as Industrial Hygiene & Air Environment and the Southwest Center for Occupational & Environmental Health. In addition, there are academic materials from courses related to topics such as workplace safety and public health risk communication. There are also materials from workshops or trainings. Finally, there are publications from sources such as the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. The materials range in date from approximately 1995-2011.

The Robert W. Miller, MD, papers, MS 101, includes materials from 1953 through 1998 related to the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC) and the Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF). Miller was the chief pediatric physician on the team that conducted the research and observations in Hiroshima. This collection encompasses this period of time in Dr. Miller's career, as well as scholarly work relating to the results of the ABCC's research. Dr. Miller donated his collection of personal and business correspondence, journal articles, book reviews, business reports, newspaper articles, pamphlets, and a book to the John P. McGovern Historical Collections and Research Center between 1994 and 1998. The materials are in good condition. The collection is 0.5 cubic feet (one box).

This collection contains four series: I. Biographical; II. Correspondence; III. Publications; and IV. Ephemera. This collection contains many journal articles that analyze the results of the research collected by the ABCC. One of the highlights of this collection is the personal letters written by Dr. Miller to his family during his time in Hiroshima, which gives a glimpse into the day to day life of the time.

The Russell A. Huggins, PhD papers contains bound reprinted research articles and loose reprints related to the research of Russell Huggins in the field of physiology. The collection consists of 1 box equaling 0.25 cubic feet. Materials are in fair condition.

The Blattner collection contains Dr. Blattner's research work throughout his career in St. Louis and Houston. It contains photographs, research materials, reprints, and publications. It offers a record of Dr. Blattner's professional life and contains no personal or family records. Collection materials date from 1936-1985.

The Ruth Hartgraves, MD papers (MS032) consists of biographical information, correspondence, professional records, certificates, professional organizaiton records, notebooks, travel books, scrapbooks, photographs audiovisual materials, ephemera, and artifacts that document the life, family, and career of Dr. Ruth Hartgraves. Genealogical information about her family includes materials about her sister, Hallie Hartgraves, who was a physician before she became a religious nun.

Information about Dr. Hartgraves' medical practice includes notebooks she made and reference books she used in the care of her patients. There is information about her hospital appointments and medical associations to which she belonged. Significant information is available about the American Medical Women's Association, especially during her presidency in 1963.

Several scrapbooks, folders and photographs document her life as a professional woman in Houston from the 1930s through the 1980s.

Dr. Hartgraves received several prestigious honors. The awards and background material on each of the ceremonies is preserved.

Dr. Hartgraves involvement in the cultural life of Houston is documented with notes she took on operas and ephemera from several events she attended. Her main hobby of world travel is covered through travel notebooks, passports and itineraries. Some mementoes acquired during her travels are also available.

Materials include notebooks and calendars that Dr. Hartgraves kept near the end of her life as she lived with dementia. She left notes to herself to remember.

The collection equals 20 cubic feet and consists of 32 boxes. The materials are in good condition.

Ruth SoRelle was born in Port Arthur on October 9, 1948. She is known for her work in medical and science writing in Houston. The bulk of the papers cover the decades from 1980 to 2015. She worked at the Houston Chronicle where she covered the AIDS/HIV epidemic in Houston. She also worked at Baylor College of Medicine where her last position before retirement was as chief science editor in the Office of Vice President of Public Affairs. She retired December 31, 2015, although she continues to write. The collection includes photos, plaques, framed objects, clipping books, clipping files, reference and topic files, childhood writings, science and medical articles, reporter notebooks, and clippings from SoRelle's budding career as a journalist at the University of Texas. One notable area of interest are the articles related to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Houston. These article document the early evidence of the disease in Houston. The collection is in good condition, although some of the news clips are showing signs of degradation from the acid in the newspaper. There are 13 boxes (13 cubic feet).

Sam Nixon, MD papers consists of about 396 boxes and contains correspondence, financial documents, and printed materials that document the life and career of Dr. Sam Nixon. Nixon was Director of University of Texas Health Science Center and president of the Texas Medical Association. Collection consists of 502 boxes equaling 303 cubic feet. Subjects: Family Practice.

The Samuel Bloom, Ph.D., collection consists of materials related to his career as Assistant Professor of Sociology, Department of Psychiatry, Baylor College of Medicine.

The Samuel Dreizen, DDS, MD papers contains 35mm slides, glass slides, reprints, medical and dental school course notes, lecture notes, faculty workshop records, and models that document Dr. Dreizen's education, work, and colleagues in the field of dentistry. Collection includes records from University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and UT Dental Branch. Photographs relate to research and clinical studies conducted at the Spies Clinic, Hillman Hospital in Birmingham AL, at Northwestern University Medical School Department of Nutrition and Metabolism, and at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston MD Anderson Cancer Center. Collection consists of 60 boxes totaling 34 cubic feet. Materials are in good condition.

The Sara Ann Barton's Lithium and Trace Metal research papers includes research material, reprints, environmental reports, questionnaires, and notes from Barton’s research on lithium and trace metals. Some material is in Spanish.

The Sara Rozin papers consists of photographs related to Sara Rozin’s work with Dr. Armin Weinberg and radiation effects and events projects in Kazakhstan and Russia. The program was organized mostly through the United Methodist Health Initiative. Three videos (VHS) related to her daughter’s wedding in 1993 were digitized and are stored in the digital collection drive (DCD). The original cassettes were returned to the donor. During the reception a rabbi sang the Chernobyl Song. A clip of it has been extracted and stored with the other video files. The material is in English, Russian, and Hebrew. Collection consists of one box equaling 0.25 cubic feet and contains 202 photographs and digital video files. Digital files are stored in the digital collection drive (DCD).
