PARTNERS (Providing Advancement Resources to Nursing Education, Research, and Students) records contain materials documenting the organization's efforts in support of the Cizik School of Nursing at UTHealth Houston.

A significant portion of the collection concerns events such as luncheons, coffees, and other events held by PARTNERS. In many cases there is extensive documentation relating to the planning of these events.

Other materials in the collection include financials (budgets, deposit records, invoices); board records (chair's notebooks, meeting minutes); membership records (lists, invitations); scholarships and research grants (reports, scholarship information, grant proposals); public relations and print material (media, annual reports, brochures); and correspondence (development, thank you letters).

The records date back to 1992, just prior to the formal beginning of the organization. The latest records in the collection date from 2017. Most of the records are from the Houston area.

The Texas Medical Center-Women's History Project contains audio interviews and print transcriptions of the interviews with women who made contributions to the biomedical and health care fields at the Texas Medical Center. Support organizations at the nursing and medical schools of UTHealth, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, began the project in 2013 with five interviews.

The Texas Medical Center Women’s History Project documents the lives of women who made contributions to the biomedical and health care fields at the Texas Medical Center. The first five interviewees are: Dorothy Otto, MSN, EdD, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Nursing; Dianna Milewicz, MD, PhD, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School; Lu Ann Aday, PhD, The University of Texas School Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Public Health; Anna Steinberger, PhD, UTHealth Medical School; Julane Hotchkiss Knobil, PhD, UTHealth Medical School. Sponsors of the first five interviews were the Faculty Wives and Women Faculty of the UTHealth Medical School, PARTNERS at the UTHealth School of Nursing and The TMC Library. Additional biographical material about women at the Texas Medical Center, such as curriculum vitae and historical documents, is included.

Dorothy Otto, EdD, MSN, RN, ANEF papers

This collection consists of Dorothy Otto's personal and professional papers related to her long career on the faculty of the Cizik School of Nursing at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston.

The bulk of the collection dates from the founding of the UT School of Nursing in 1972. Dr. Otto's papers include her office files, records of her professional involvement, and some materials reflecting her personal interests. In addition to paper records, there are also a small number of VHS tapes, floppy disks, optical media, and flash drives, as well as artifacts and four large foam presentation boards. The materials labeled "Personal" contain historical nursing stamps she collected, thank you cards and other correspondence, artifacts, and historical nursing quotes Otto made into bookmarks.

Much of the collection documents Otto’s work at the Cizik School of Nursing, as well as the history of the School itself. There are faculty meeting minutes, handbooks, and other records from the School’s early development in the 1970s. Later records include programs and presentation materials relating to Nursing School anniversaries, where Otto often spoke about history of the School.

There is also substantial coverage of Otto’s professional and personal endeavors in nursing beyond Houston. Multiple boxes document her role as Academic Leader for Nursing International Journeys educational trips. Her work on various nursing education committees and in other leadership roles is reflected in printed email correspondence, meeting agendas and minutes.

Otto’s interest in the history of nursing is apparent throughout the collection. There are photocopies of articles and other sources she shared with colleagues or used in preparation for her lectures and speeches. There are also artifacts such as historical nursing stamps and brochures she collected on her travels to places like London’s Florence Nightingale Museum.

There are also copies of Dr. Otto’s master’s thesis and doctoral dissertation.

Materials document the career of Dr. Bergstrom in nursing, her leadership at the UT School of Nursing and the Center on Aging, Dr. Bergstrom was the Associate Dean for Research at the University of Texas School of Nursing and the Director of the Center on Aging from 2000-2015. The collection consists of 14 boxes and equals 12.5 cubic feet.
