Name of creator
John Roger Kelsey was born in May 1922 in Deport, Texas. He graduated from Baylor College of Medicine and later became a fellow in internal medicine and gastroenterology at Mayo Clinic. While in Minnesota, he earned his Master of Science degree from the University of Minnesota. He served as clinical professor of medicine at Baylor College of Medicine and as chief of the gastroenterology department at Methodist Hospital. Dr. Kelsey, along with Dr. William Seybold and Dr. William Kelsey developed Houston’s Kelsey-Seybold Clinics.

The John Kelsey collection contains war stamps, annual reports, meeting minutes, Kelsey-Seybold department reports, reviews, and clinic retirement plan, clinic reorganization, proposed changes in partnership agreement, American college of physicians roster, Foreword, Scott and White Memorial Hospital dedication, report to the board of trustees and members of the American Group Practice Association, papers on small bowel cancer, Gastroenterology, medical problems of the elderly, reprints on benign tumors, vascular insufficiency, a study of the aortic valve in hypertension, chlorpromazine jaundice, arterialization of the liver: a new concept of hepatic circulation, small bowel neoplasms, acute diseases of the liver, Prevent-O-Gram, preventive dentistry meeting, Pr module material, curriculum ,memos, journals, articles, and other printed materials related to the work and research of John Kelsey.
